Left Right & Centre Live – 28/04/2011
The Farewell Gig
It is hard to believe that it’s been over two years since the lads took up residency. Since March 26th, 2009 Noel, Ed and John (joined by Trevor last year) have brought us Dublin’s best blues gig. And we don’t say that lightly.
Alas it all comes to an end and tonight was the last Left, Right & Centre gig in Frank Ryans – and what a send-off.
The lads of course continue to play, so watch out for them. Until then, from all of us at Frank Ryans, thanks for everything and all the best for the future. It’s been a cracking two years.

Hello
Great music!
I read in a blog that you recorded this with a Zoom H1?
I have a similar project and I like the sound, what was the setup exactly? was it mixed and line in to the h1? or internal mics?
thanks a lot!
Hi Carlos,
It is indeed the cheap and cheerful Zoom H1 that I used.
Through trial and error I found that a recording level of 17 works well with the band. I also record WAV files and leave the low pass filter off.
The auto recording level is a pain – the levels in your recordings will be all over the place.
I use the internal mics and, using an expertly fashioned piece of coat hanger with suitable amounts of sticky tape, hang the Zoom off a nail in the ceiling.
The only post processing I do is to cut the tracks, add a fade in/out and normalise the level. Other than that it is raw unadulterated blues.
Drop me a line if you want more info or drop into the pub (almost) any Thursday evening.Fran.
